Context:

As a contractor, CER is conscious that the First Nation and their membership have a desire to participate in this project.

Thus, CER plans to prioritize the involvement of First Nation workers, contractors and businesses where possible and for task for which they meet the necessary qualifications.

Opportunity:

  • CER wishes to fill a position for a Community Relation Representative.
  • The Community Relation Representative will be responsible to provide a link between the interested First Nation workers / contractors and the project manager.
  • This individual will be responsible to organize job fairs and other community events to share the opportunities available on the project as well as the qualifications required to qualify for these positions.
  • The Community Relation Representative will keep and update lists of qualified and interested personnel that are available to work on the project
  • The Community Relation Representative will keep and update lists of qualified and interested subcontractors that are interested in participating in the project
  • The Community Relation Representative will work with the project team and subcontractors to understand the required qualification for tasks and provide feedback to applicants
  • The Community Relation Representative will communicate and report on regular basis with the community and designated representatives with updates and status on the project and community involvement
  • The Community Relation Representative will coordinate with the appointed traditional and cultural leader appointed by the band; this should include coordinating items such as a ground breaking commencement ceremony and others that may or may not be held on site

Qualifications:

  • The Community Relation Representative will have the following qualifications:
    • Preferably from one of the communities involved with the project
    • Be in good standing with the communities and its leaders
    • Be a good communicator and team member who will demonstrate the ability to work with our construction team
    • Be organised and familiar with electronic communication tools as well as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
    • Ideally but no necessarily familiar with construction activities and contracting processes
    • Self-starter and able to prioritize tasks to achieve the requirements of the position and the objective of the Construction Project and its schedule
