Re:       CNR Land Claim Update

The process set out by Indigenous and Northern Affairs is being followed that will provide the CNR Land Claim Settlement Funds that were ratified via the vote passed by a majority on September 25th, 2016.

As of March 31st, 2017, the documentation required by Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs, is in process. She is now in the position to process the paperwork to issue the payment to Henvey Inlet First Nation. Recently, at a meeting in Henvey Inlet First Nation on March 30th 2017, I personally requested Minister Bennett to sign off on the Land Claim agreement.

At present, the band has not received any funds with respect to the Land Claim settlement. When the cheque is issued, it will go to a trust account with the Bank of Montreal. Based on the Membership list as of December 25th, 2016, a calculation will be done to determine the amount that each member will receive via a cheque that will be mailed to the most current address.

It is your responsibility to ensure your address is up to date with Lyndy McQuabbie, Receptionist the Administration Office. Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

Miigwetch,
