NIHB Medical Transportation to access Interval/Safe Houses

Section 12.1 of the NIHB Medical Transportation Policy Framework has been amended to remove the exclusion of transportation to “interval/safe houses” under the MT benefit.  Resulting from this amendment, medical transportation benefits may now be approved for clients to access to interval/safe houses as ‘medically required health services’.  The NIHB Medical Transportation Policy Framework may be found at the following link:

Registration for Indian Status through Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC)

Annually, Ontario Region shares Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada registration forms with partners in an effort to assist individuals with registration (attached).  Unregistered individuals should be encouraged to get registered with INAC.  Urgent NIHB cases for unregistered peoples should be brought to the attention of NIHB for further assistance.
